Youth & Vocations

As in all ministries, we are called to lead people to a loving relationship with Christ. The youth and vocations’ office of the Diocese of Jasikan respect the God-given diversity and individuality of the young people entrusted to our care. We help them develop as well rounded Christians and good citizens within the wider context of family, church and wider community. Our primary concern is their health and happiness in time and in eternity.

We strive to empower young people to live as disciples of Christ in the world today; to draw them to responsible participation in the life, mission and work of the larger Catholic faith community; and to foster the total personal and spiritual growth of each young person. We strive to provide a comprehensive approach on a parish, deanery and diocesan level. We avail ourselves of local resources, from both within and outside the church, and also help the young people connect with the wider church as well.

Young people are just that people. They are as diverse as any other segment of society. One program or activity does not fit all. There cannot be a generic youth ministry. It must be relational. It must be relational between the minister and God, between the minister and the young people, between the young people and God, and between the young people themselves. This is the basis of all Christian life. Each of us must make this decision on our own. The purpose of youth and young adult ministry in the diocese is to help and support young people in their efforts to live out this reality in their everyday lives.

We support young people who have the desire to pursue the priestly and religious vocations. We offer a comprehensive program that will help them in the discernment process. Do you feel called to be a priest or a religious? Come follow me, do not be afraid!
